When I was 8 years old, my grandma stabbed my grandfather in his upper back with a 10cm knife and it was sticking out half way and blood was running down his back. He didn't even flinch or go to the hospital. My dad just gave him a towel and a beer. I'm 30 years old now and I remember that like it happened last week.

I know it sounds weird but I don't think getting stabbed hurts as much as you'd think (in certain places on the body). My friend got jumped by some kids in the school toilets and didn't realise that he'd been stabbed in the back until he saw the blood afterwards. He thought it was just a punch.

Medical student here, the stomach is a pretty safe place to be stabbed IF the blade is short and isn't serrated, this is because your intestines are quite slippery, like trying to stab a water Balloon in a bucket of water, and your vital organs are either deep or protected by your rib cage :)
